After vengeance has been exacted, the twins lead the rest of the group to the city of Thaanjaagam. On the way, they stop at a creek to wash, rinsing away the blood and soot from the Venkataram house. They resume their journey, and end up at the tavern Ayosham Drink, where Maghu has grabbed a table and drinks for the group. As everyone settles into their chairs, a solemnity befalls the party, in contrast with the partying members of the tavern. Maghu first challenges Shwari to drink as much as she can, then he chides the group for their sorrowful mood. Afterwards, Shwari finds a bard troupe, and persuades them to play with her. As she plays the drums with this group, Madhi and Raagi enter the tavern, Madhi immediately runs to Aadhi and showers her with care, and Raagi waits for Shwari to finish her performance. When Shwari is finished, she and Raagi reunite, and rejoin the table. Madhi orders everyone two rounds of chicken biriyani, and a feast occurs. Aadhi also calls for Dharun to meet them at the tavern, and the group converses and jokes through dinner. Maghu learns about Aadhi and Dharun, leading to him and Shwari making fun of the couple. Yet, the joking flips onto Shwari when everyone finds out about her and Haavani. The feast ends with a plan set for Marthandam, and Madhi and Raagi pay for the rooms at the tavern. Everyone heads to bed, except for Aadhi and Dharun. In their room, they discuss the future of their relationship and its lackluster circumstances. However, they both agree to stay with each other, and fall asleep in each other's arms.
The next morning they walk the boardwalk to the docks and learn that the pirate they hired to destroy Venkataram's ships is the one to take them to Marthandam. Madhi, Raagi, and Dharun say goodbye to the party, and then they set sail.
Throughout the first half of the trip, multiple conversations are held. Shwari and Bhavannan talk about their new distrust within Kadavuls, and Aadhi and Haavani talk about their worries of being immoral and being led astray from dharma. Aadhi also gets a message from Dharun. In the message, he explains the letter he sent to his father, and that the only way to eliminate Bodhi is to burn her out. And at last, Haavani and Shwari have a devastating conversation where the two argue over the relationship and their wants and needs, ultimately ending their relationship while sailing the breaking waves.
