As the ship sails the breaking waves of the kadal, Maghu and Bhavannan start their training sessions, yet to no avail. Maghu irritates Bhavannan to elicit an angry response, and Bhavannan grows weary of it throughout the days. Two weeks later, Bhavannan quits the sessions, refusing to give in to Maghu's antics.
A few days later, Maghu notices Shwari's dreary spirits and engages her in a game of gin rummy. After they finish however, he goes to Aadhi, explains Shwari's strangeness, and expresses his frustration with Bhavannan. Aadhi says she will check on Shwari, then expresses her lack of relationship with Bhavannan, and his distrust in the rest of the group. As Aadhi leaves, Maghu regains a sense of conviction, and goes to Bhavannan's room. In the small bedroom, a fight breaks out as Maghu attempts to instigate Bhavannan, who stabs at Maghu without success. After everything dies down, Bhavannan still refuses to listen, and Maghu leaves, enraged.
When Aadhi goes to Shwari's room after her conversation with Maghu, she walks into a bedroom where colored powder has exploded on the walls. As Aadhi asks for the cause of the manic art scene, Shwari tries to brush it off, but then reveals the breakup between her and Haavani. Shwari also expresses her fear of the future, or rather, her lack of ideas for the future. Aadhi consoles her, yet just as they lie down for bed, Maghu comes to the room, wanting to blow off some steam with Shwari, which Shwari obliges. For the next week, the three rekindle their sibling bond, staying in close circles with each other.
Another week and a half passes without much incident: Haavani prays to Veyyon successfully, Shwari prays to Dhara unsuccessfully, Bhavannan grows weary of sailing, and Aadhi reads her new book of fables gifted by Haavani. The last night arrives, where the party individually has visions ranging from deific to monstrous. When the dreams end, they leave their rooms, walk out to the docks, and lay eyes upon Marthandam.
