After the first stand against mirughams has been fairly successful, the party dashes to other side of Konga Naadu, where five mirughams should land after being launched. When they arrive at the scene, Marathan has assembled a hundred soldiers, and he leads the charge towards the mirughams. Three had been smashed from their descent, and the soldiers quickly killed the other two. Marathan then gestures towards Bhavannan, congratulates his son, and acknowledges the whole crew. As Bhavannan embraces his father, an explosion goes off somewhere east. Everyone dashes towards it, and finds a corner of the city on fire. As everyone works to put out the flames, each member of the group is banished from the vaanam, and enter an unknown space.
The party stands in this deep violet field, and in front of them stands a purple-toned raatchi, and a skeletal snake-being. Bhavannan immediately recognizes the raatchi as Khootabha, recalling when he overheard a conversation between the raatchi and a few mirughams.[1] Khootabha threatens the party, claiming he will either kill them outright or harm them so severely that divine intervention will be required for their salvation. He then grows in size, and battle ensues. Khootabha dealt deadly damage towards all of them with his greatsword and blinding palms. The party attempts to fight him: Bhavannan and Shwari striking him with their weapons, Haavani conjuring a visage of Veyyon, and Aadhi spawning a frog-like creature to fight, all to no avail. The snake attempts to kill Aadhi and Haavani, but is swiftly dealt with. Khootabha, however, stands strong until Aadhi blinds him. However, with no sight, he strikes her down completely, felling her. Haavani rushes to her aid, saving her from death, but not reviving her fully. To punish that action, Khootabha attempts to strike Haavani down as well, but Bhavannan unleashes his shield's potential, creating an immovable force around him, Shwari and Haavani. As the shield is up, Shwari plays Dhara's drum and everyone regains some health. However, Bhavannan lowers the shield, and the fight begins again. One by one, everyone is felled, and Shwari stands last. As Khootabha crushes her with his greatsword, a lotus blooms around her, stabilizing the wound.
Pink lotuses bloom around each member, curing their wounds and reviving them. The flowers also pick them up, and as they float in the air, Khootabha's cackle echoes as he claims that Mun Mugham has played right into his hands. The lotuses quickly fly out of this area, and the vertigo proves too much for the party, causing them to pass out within the petals. After a while, the lotuses land and open gently. The group finds themselves on the outskirts of Konga Naadu, and the moon is up, signaling that around twelve hours have passed. The party discusses the events, and the idea of a holy war starting dawns on them, as Mun Mugham's broken promise forever changes the future of the vaanam.
