Manithan Vaanam

மனிதன் வானம்

Children of the Raasa

Session 7
Vanathi's Lightseekers
When the banishment of the mirughams was deemed, there was always a tiny fear within all of us that they might return. That tiny fear grew as the Vaanam moved on . . . the truth became history, and then history became myth. And once again, their mangled and bloody feet walk up on the Vaanam. And who else can we blame, other than Manithan.

In-Game Time 19th Day of the 4th Dharan Cycle
Played On 22nd of November, 2024

After a morning of bidding their first of farewells, the party resumed their journey to Kaverinaadu. After an hour or two, the Palani Hills is drenched in torrential rains, and the group looks for a spot to take shelter. As they look around, they find a cave entrance, and wingbeats come from within. Aadhi casts dancing lights into the cave and illuminates the floor, as well as two beasts with massive dragonfly-like wings. As the lights reached the floor, the beasts noticed the group, flying up towards them.

Once the beasts emerge from the cave entrance, they immediately try to wrangle Prabhathan and Harjun out of the hands of Aadhi and Bhavannan, respectively. However, Aadhi and Bhavannan hold on, and the beasts fly into the sky, one receiving a wound from the rapier of Shwari. After healing the infants, the group contemplates the beasts and realizes that they were mirughams. With that knowledge, they decide to enter and investigate the cave.

On the floor of the cave, a massive circle made out of blood is drawn, and in the center of the circle lies a gigantic pile of dark soot. Around the circle, four lecterns stand, and a book rests on each one. An alcove is also found where a shrine depicts a pair of long horns. The shrine is made of black stone, while the horns are intricately carved with lines and runes. Bhavannan reads one of the books and notices that the page lists the ingredients and runic chant to summon mirughams from Pisaas. As Aadhi, Bhavannan, and Shwari try to recognize the symbolism of the shrine, Nila reads the title of one of the books: Aandharam's Purge. The group recoils in horror as they realize the shrine is to the Raatchi Raasa. Bhavannan immediately wishes to destroy the shrine, but the twins argue that destroying it might release something terrible into the world. After a few minutes of debating, the party agrees to collapse the cave and burn the books.

After Aadhi burns the books, they ascend into the rain. Using their inherent water capabilities, Aadhi, with the help of Shwari, change the current of the rain to collapse the cave. With the hideous meeting of the children of the Raasas in mind, they move on to the next leg of the journey.
